The multimedia network teaching platform designed and realized in this thesis is an advanced scheme which is based on streaming media technology and used in the education. Under the present network condition, compared with the traditional remote teaching system, the platform effectively decreases users’ waiting time, provides abundant live teaching status, makes full use of resources, allows a great quantity user accessing simultaneously, students can have pointed choice, improving the study efficiency.The main work contents are as follows:First, using UML to design a complete streaming system, the structure framework of multimedia network teaching platform, base on sufficient survey with rules;Secondly, this paper described in detail that how the streaming media technology is applied to platform, in this platform, central control equipments are responsible for coding compression, subsystem server is based on stream media protocols, streaming media player supports asf format file.Then, realized the design and development of subsystem --ideo server, video server is designed according to three layer structure, running through the object-oriented ideas, using multi-thread to achieve video, storage and release of learning resources. The communication between client and server through by the XML file transfrom, the video server can support 120 encoders working simultaneously; provide learning resources for other subsystem.Finally, accomplish a design scheme of sub-system vod server, which is based on stream media protocols, furnishing a practical method that can be used in the development of multimedia network teaching.
