With the rapid development of the civil aviation aerial transport, the construction of a new generation civil aviation navigation system has become the trend all over the world. According to the latest published plan of the twelfth five-year of the development schedule of civil aviation, our country is planning to open low attitude area, to improve the continuous security level, to erect modern ATC system, and to accelerate the development of general aviation.ADS-B brings aerial surveillance revolutionary advance for its outstanding surveillance performance and low cost. Also, ICAO has determined that ADS-B is the main development direction of the future surveillance technology and international aviation community is working on the application of the technology.UAT data link which generates from USA is designed for ADS-B specially. It is fit for general aviation for its simple airborne equipment and great flexibility. From the new published the 12th five-year plan of the development of Chinese civil aviation, we are going to open airspace at low altitudes, improve the secure level of flying, build modern ATC service system, accelerate the development of general aviation. The fact that UAT data link is especially suitable for general aviation indicates it is very important to have research on UAT data link.The design and stimulation of UAT datalink of this paper make a supplementary function to the research of UAT datalink and ADS-B applications of our country. The futher research on this area will contribute to Aeronautical Telecommunications Network and make up the deficiencies for low-altitude sky openness. Based on the analysis of the structure of the UAT system, the protocol and other characteristics of the UAT data link, this paper designs a simulated model of UAT and the related performance measures. The simulation implementation is on the NS2 network simulation software platform with C++/NS2 language. Modifying on the existing protocol stack of NS2,building new information source, adding new protocol of MAC and radio transmitting model consist of the work which realized the simulation. In the end, we get the performance measures such as network scale, MAC end to end delay, network throughput, factors which affect them and relationships between them. By simulating, we can get the overall performance of the UAT data link, such as the advantages and disadvantages of the system.
