With the advent of an aging society, the research of balance is increasinglybecoming the focus of attention. Researchs in this area have yielded fruitful results, such as Caron noted that increasing muscle activity will change the body’s ability tomaintain balance. But these methods mostly use single measurement means, restricting further study. With the advances in methods of technology, the combinationof multi-disciplinary and multi-test means is the future trend of balance study. How toobtain a more comprehensive and detailed experimental data, creating quantifiablebiological, physical characteristic parameters, using modern information processingmethods to give a more comprehensive and reliable conclusion have become achallenging task.Based on the topic "human motor dysfunction based on multi-modal informationassessment study", this paper describes variety of techniques and background of bodybalance and balance information measurements. Firstly, introducing an intelligencebalancing test system to gather both biological signals and movement mechanicssignals, illustrated the function of system and design principles and implementation. With this system, designed EMG and movement mechanics signals acquisitionexperiments under proprioceptive stimulation and visual stimulation. Then studied thecharacteristics and features of two signals extraction method under differentstimulations. Finally, through information fusion of two different signals to evaluatethe correlation of balance and visual stimulation and proprioceptive stimuli. Papersfor the main work and innovation are as follows:(1) In this paper, from the view of collecting data with different measuringinstruments, the intelligence balancing test system that can simultaneously collectEMG and other biological signals and mechanics signals based on the implementationof the detection of the pressure sensors is developed. Work of this paper includeselecting Wii Board and MyoTrace400as information collection platform, softwarerequirements analysis, system block diagram of drawing and specific programming. All of above provide protection issues for subsequent data collection.(2) COP is proposed based on the length of the front and rear track as thecharacteristic parameter to evaluate the correlation between ability of the body and proprioceptive stimulation and visual stimulation. Firstly, balance testing systemplatform by four pressure signals derived anchor the center coordinates. Thenselecting the track length of COP and shake diameter as the characteristic parameterto evaluate the correlation between the two stimuli and balance. Meanwhile, checkingwhether significant differences appeared when the two characteristics were compared. Results showed that, compared to shake diameter, COP as a characteristic parameterof evaluation has better a result. In addition, the analytical results have practicalclinical value.(3) Completed the preprocessing and feature extraction of EMG. In order to ensurethat the information fusion achieve good results, using the wavelet decomposition andreconstruction method for sEMG signal de-noising, introducing of root mean squareerror and signal to noise ratio as the filtering effect of the evaluation criteria, andachieved good results. Extracting basic scale entropy as a feature for the subsequentfeature level information fusion basis.(4) From the status that the current research in the field of balance relying on a singlemeans of measurement, the paper firstly describes the principles of information fusion, and explains the three different levels of integration methods. Then extracting featuresfrom both motion mechanics and EMG signals and using fuzzy support vectormachine in the feature level fusion and classification. The actual classification resultsshow that compared to rely on a single measurement evaluation tool, the use of avariety of measurement and evaluation of information is more comprehensive andscientific, shows the feasibility of balance evaluation relying on a variety ofmeasurement methods.
