Design And Implementation Of Network Management System Based On SNMP

The society of today has entered the Information Age. On the one hand, the hardware platform, operating system platform, application software and other IT systems have become very complex and difficult to unified management. On the other hand, modern society has also been highly dependent on computer networks, making people higher requirements on the network’s security and stability. It makes that network management technology become the key technology as the network technology.Nowadays, most popular network management system, are basiclly general network management platform and can not meet the special network management needs of some customers. And that such as government, military, research institutes and other agencies and institutions, are still worry about the safety of the network management system. Therefore, developing network management system for the private network is in demand in real world.This paper designs the overall of the network management system based on SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), meeting the requirements of the network management of ATN(Aeronautical Telecommunication Network) and detailedly describes the implementation of network management agent for SNMP Agent based on private MIB (Management Information Base).First, this paper introduces the basic concept and architecture of network management. And the SNMP protocol specification has been specifically addressed.Secondly, using the network management needs of ATN (Aeronautical Telecommunication Network) for reference, the paper describes the design plan of the software function modules and the overall structure of the network management system, and tells how to analysis and design the network management system’s database according to data characteristics of the system managed network. Finally, the paper describes the implementation of the network management agent client in detail, and comes up with a rapid development framework for SNMP-based network management agent for private MIB.The network management agent software of this paper finally implemented has passed in the test, and can be stablily and efficiently run on the intermediate network devices such as routers.
