Research Of Network Security Management Based On Improved SNMPv2

The computer networks has been evolving fast since the computer after appearing, and bringing more convenience to people of all kinds of occupations. At the same time, networks have larger and larger scale, and its complexity becomes higher and higher. The network security problems have already been one of the major issues of in network research and construction. Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), which is proposed by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETE), is a network management protocol based on TCP/IP protocol. Because it is simple and easy to apply, SNMP is very widely used, and has made itself actual International Standard of computer network managementActually, SNMP stands for a series of protocols. While developing fast, early versions of SNMP have shown their shortcomings. One of the defects of SNMP is security weakness. Nowadays, network security is so important that protecting the security of network management cannot be ignored. Meanwhile, ensuring the good simplicity of SNMP is also of vital importance.Setting up a new network management protocol which is secure enough but does not drastically affect the efficiency has become an immediate need. Therefore, Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 (SMMPv3) whose security has been significantly improved comes into being.SNMPv3 is the latest version of SNMP. SNMPv3 is Compatible with front SNMP version (SNMPv1 and SNMPv2) and it enhanced new security and access control mechanism which not only solves the security problem but defined an integrated architecture of SNMP.But the increament of SMNPv3's security sacrifices a lot of the simplicity of SNMPv3. It is predicted that the SNMPv3 increases about 30 percent of the complexity than SNMPv2.Developping a set of net agreement that not only ensuring the network management safety but not having a strong impact on the efficiency of network management has highly been a problem need to be solved.In order to overcome the problem above, the paper firstly carry out multianalysis on SNMP protocol and the safe threat it faced, did the detailed elaboration to its each historical edition in protocol security question.Secondly, study the USM of SNMPv3 in great detail,and combine it with SNMPv2 message, and redesign the format of message PDU, proposed a security protocol plan based on the SNMPv2 message, which guaranteed the security of the SNMP protocol to a great extent. Meanwhile, the localized file of snmpEngineID is set up,which improves the operation efficiency furtherly,which making brand-new weighing with the security of network and simplicity of the protocol itself.Thirdly, the SNMP management station and the agent object were realized by using object-oriented and the modular design method. And the USM safe processing module which was defined in the SNMPv3 agreement was realized, and the locolized file of snmpEngineID is created. Furthermore, the thesis gives some clues to future research.
