With the rapid informatization of large enterprises in our country, enterprise information systems have to deal with larger amount of more complex business data while facing higher requirements on quality. Traditional manual testing methods have failed to keep up with the new requirements. Automated testing not only improves efficiency and reduces cost but also accomplishes tasks that are not realistic using manual simulations such as concurrent testing. Under these circumstances, research on test automation has important pragmatic value.This thesis analyzes test automation on a human resource outsourcing (HRO) use case. It begins with the background of HRO and the necessity of research on test automation. Then I describe methods of automated testing and compare pros and cons of these methods. After that I introduce the business background and system architecture of the HRO system, the testing points that can potentially be automated and their requirements. I further discuss how to choose appropriate tools and methods for test automation. According to the system’s framework, user interface use case design, automation script and stress testing methods, this thesis then elaborates the test solution involving Visual Studio and LoadRunner. It also analyzes the extensibility of test automation and discusses how to conduct regression test in the environment where business requirements change often. I then conclude the thesis with expectations on the future of test automation.
