As software development, the number and scale of software products have both been increasing. As a resul, the quality has become a key factor for software to become outstanding among the numerous products. Software testing which is the direct way to ensure software quality also becomes more and more important. But software testing sometimes has duplicate steps which do not need much logic but cost lots of time. And some test can hardly be done only through people work, such as the pressure test of a web site. Automated test is proposed to solve these problems. Automated test can do the test that people cannot do to achieve a more comprehensive test. Automated test also can help people do some simple duplicate test, which can help increase test efficiency and also reduce testing cost.This paper is based on the author’s intern experience at Sybase R&D. It describes the automation tool for SUP sanity test. SUP is short for Sybase Unwired Platform. It’s an unwired platform product developed by Sybase. Sanity test is used to check the correctness of SUP server and the common communication between server and mobile devices. To achieve automation on sanity test, it involves automated test on GUI and mobile devices. The design and implementation of this automation tool are introduced, as well as the three layered structure using RFT. This paper is to prove that automation test has practical benefits in industry through the pratical use of this tool.This paper firstly introduces the basic knowledge of automation test and automation test on mobile devices. Also, the technology and tools used in this paper are introduced. Secondly, the structure of Sanity Automation Tool is introduced. Thirdly, the artical discusses the design and implementation of automation on Eclipse Tooling. Then the paper shows how this Sanity Automation Framework worked in real work. The problems occurred and the corresponding solutions are also discussed. At last the paper summarizes all this and proposes a future vision.
