In 21st century, global warming has become a serious global environmental challenges. Frequent extreme weather events, which is caused by climate change,continue to affect the survival and development of mankind, lead to great attention of governments and the public serious concerns.7 December 2009 to 18, the 15th Meeting of "United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change" (UNFCCC) is hold in the Danish capital Copenhagen. More than 85 Heads of State or Government, the environment ministers of 192 countries attended this meeting to discuss a follow-up program after the expiration of "Kyoto Protocol". Although the conference failed to reach any substantive agreement, but it set off a wave of concern about climate change around the world, also led to intense discussions on the search for viable options to retard climate change, The coverage of climate change has a substantial increase in amount, but also gradually deepened.The topic of climate change is important and complex, not only relate to the climate and environment, but also contain the politics, economy,science, diplomacy and other fields, with a high degree of difficulty to report. How base on the national interests and social development , from a global perspective to grasp the principles of the report, accurately and timely convey the scientific knowledge of climate change , the latest development and relevant policies to the public, to let the public understand the impact of climate change to their daily life and the responsibility they should undertake, not misleading and confusing? It is a big challenges to national medias .Newspaper media has a advantage of in-depth reporting, has a strong reputation in the hearts of the audience, is an important public opinion front of report on climate change. "People’s Daily","Science Times"and"Southern Weekly"are all larger papers which have a great influence in our country and distinct features. presenting the authority of the ruling party, the scientific community views and voices of society, with strong representativeness and referencing. In this research,according to five-year content analysis on coverage of climate change of these three newspapers from 2006 to 2010, in order to sum up the characteristics and problems of newspaper media coverage on climate change in recent years, so as to give feasibility suggestions to further improve our newspaper media coverage of climate change.The results show that, in recent years, the media coverage of climate change on newspapers presents features include: (1) rapid increase in coverage amount; (2) emphasis on international news , politics news, science news; (3) maintain an objective tone and a tendency to optimism; ( 4) messages source dependent on government and scientific institutions; (5) focus on information, communication, interview genre; (6) report focused on the important page layout. Problems are: (1) ignore the social and livelihood perspective, intimacy is not enough; (2) the lack of breadth and depth of content, not enough in guiding public opinion; (3) reported that a single perspective, the lack of speculative critical spirit; (4) modeling way of reporting, difficult to attract readers; (5) coverage amount ups and downs, lack of normal attention; (6) a single source, there is a lack of balance; (7)poor external communication, can not maintenance the national image well.According to the features and problems of newspaper media on climate change , referencing the information communication theory and related literature, the author give the following recommendations on how to do a better job of newspaper media coverage of climate change: (1) increase coverage amount to meet the information needs of the audience; (2) extensive coverage in the form to enhanc attraction; (3) be familiar with the environment of public opinion and win public opinion initiative; (4) enhance the specialization of journalists to improve professional degree of reports; (5) set a mansun to promote normal reports; (6) broaden the sources of news to improve the degree of coverage balance.
