Intelligent Transportation Systems mainly include: traffic information collection,traffic emergency rescue management, traffic control management, traffic informationissue, traffic signal control and traffic guidance, of which traffic information collectionsystem is an important part and also is one of the most critical technology for IntelligentTransportation Systems Research, for whether the traffic information collection systemcan collect the traffic data really, accurately and reliably is directly related to thedecision-making and control of the whole system. At present, the existing trafficinformation collection system has features, such as vulnerable to weather conditions,not convenient for the network deployment and expensive for the equipmentmaintenance. To this end, the paper proposes a traffic information acquisition systembased on wireless sensor networks.On the basis of in-depth study of wireless sensor network architecture, technologynodes and the network protocol stack, combined with traffic information acquisitionsystem of the basic composition and working principle, making full use good features ofwireless sensor networks flexible, low cost, and environmental adaptability. The paperdesigns traffic information collection system based on wireless sensor networks. Thepaper work is mainly reflected in the following areas:①Traffic information collection system network construction: This paperintroduces the wireless sensor network architecture, node and network protocol stackand the ZigBee protocol specification and principles. With the specific application ofthis paper, it improves the ZigBee protocol and with the protocol, finally it completesthe formation of the star network and realizes the system acquisition network.②Traffic information collection system hardware circuit design: With TI’sCC2530chip as the main chip, it designs the system hardware by using themagnetoresistive sensor as information-aware front-end. In this paper, it designs theinformation collection node, the sink node and the node power supply module and so on,introduces the information collection module by using the front-end of the HMC5883Lmagnetoresistive sensor and describes the GPRS technology and its related properties.At last, it completes the hardware design of the entire system by applying circuitdesigned.③The traffic information collection system software design: Through the specific introduction of the software development platform and the analysis of the geomagneticdisturbance, it introduces the key research content of this paper: dynamic vehicledetection algorithm and the speed measurement algorithm, combined with the works ofthe magnetoresistive sensor magnetoresistive sensor driver to complete the systemsoftware design ultimately.After finishing the design of the software and hardware system, this paper has alarge number of field tests according to the system performance and the test resultsshow that: the system network is flexible, easy to install, of low maintenance costs andnot subject to weather conditions, and at the same time is of high accuracy of dataacquisition and real-time and very suitable for large-scale deployment of trafficinformation collection network.
