Wireless sensor network is a wireless network Consisted of the number ofsensor nodes in the form of self-organizing collaborative.Intelligent transportation system is an effective means to relieve the growingproblem of traffic congestion, improve the traffic environment, energy saving andother functions.WSN technology applied to the urban transport system will have alarger role in promoting the development of intelligent urban transportationsystems. This thesis studies the application of wireless sensor networks in intelligenttransportation system, basis on existing theory, comprehensive the advantage ofWSN and ITS own needs, combining by wireless sensor network technology, intelligent transportation technologies and other related technologies. introductionof the WSN sub-cluster theory into ITS, this dissertation proposes Multi-layerscluster structure based on Vehicular Sensor Net-works(MCS_VSNs), And on thebasis of existing sensor nodes, modular design and improvement of the hardwarenode, production the sensor nodes suited used in this article. On the basis of thisnode, we design and improvement of networking and data acquisition algorithms ofthe system. This thesis use Protel99SE platform and iSnamp-J platform to complete thesimulation experiments. Experimental results show that, the design of the hardwarenode has a theoretical feasibility. In the experiments of the algorithm, we using thesame simulation environment and parameters, respectively compare to theMCS_VSNs and two other traffic data collection model, The experimental resultsverify that in acquisition accuracy and effectiveness the MCS_VSNs model havegreatly improved, and simplify the system’s networking and routing overhead.
