With the development of integrated avionics system, various avionics systems are integrated intothe avionics system. Since the avionics system becomes increasingly integrated, the development ofthe cockpit display system meets more difficulties, the integration cost of various avionics systemsincreases as well. ARINC661serves as a standard to standardize the communication interfacebetween CDS (Cockpit Display System) and UA (User Application). ARINC661plays a significantrole in the development of CDS and the overall avionics system as this standard defined an openarchitecture for CDS. According to ARINC661, a definition file with specific format is used to definethe display interface. Since definition file can been written in XML and BIN formats, manual programof the definition file requires lots of human resources and time which also causes more mistakes andhigh design risk. Creating the definition file automatically by a series of standardized graphic designtools can dramatically reduce the cost and mistakes and increase the efficiency of the development.Therefore it’s very important to develop a design platform for CDS. In this paper, the design platformfor CDS is elaborated and the architecture and implementation details are presented.Firstly, this paper introduces the research background of the topic. After researching thespecification, it shows a overview of ARINC661and concludes some main concepts. Then itdescribes the organizational structure of the paper. After that, this paper shows the differencesbetween the old designing process and the ARINC661designing process. According to therequirements, it concludes the function modules of the ARINC661designing platform and designsthe architecture of this system. After comparing many kinds of implementation technology, using.netplatform is more suitable for this system.Then, this paper mainly discusses the symbol design tool and the DF design tool. According tothe definition of symbol in ARINC661, it describes the designing detail of a symbol database. Afterconsidering a lot of design patterns, this paper designs its own design pattern for the symbol designtool. And also, it does a lot research on the coordinate transformation, graphical rotation andtranslation, graphic filling etc. In the section of DF design tool, this paper first introduces the conceptsof DF. Then is shows how to design the widget template. At last, is discusses the loading, generatingand other technologies of processing the definition file.In the end, this paper mainly discusses two external modules, dynamic simulation and UAcommands computer-aided design. It uses a demo of situation display to shows how to design a display system definition file. After that, this paper shows a communication test of UA and CDSdynamic simulation. It proves that this system works well for designing the ARINC661based displaysystem.
