With rapid growth of packet services in the transport network, the MPLS-TP of packetthat evolved from MPLS has gradually become the direction of the transmission network ofthe next generation network. More and more operators have begun to use the multi-serviceplatform of MPLS-TP. The OAM (Operation Administration Maintenance) mechanism is themain reason of evolution of MPLS-TP technology. OAM mechanism, which plays animportant role in the MPLS-TP network, has a direct impact on the development of MPLS-TPnetwork.MPLS-TP OAM is still confronted with some problems, such as the mechanism is notcomplete and protocol/standards is not common. This thesis mainly concerns on theresearching and designing of OAM mechanisms with improved function and and new featuresbased on MPLS-TP technology. The main content of the thesis includes as following:Firstly, the OAM protocol of IEEE802.1ag is studied, and MPLS-TP OAM is dividedinto three types according to their mechanism, then the various types of message format ofOAM mechanisms and forward maintenance mechanism are summed up.Secondly, to construct a stable switched network environment based on MPLS-TPexperimental network platform, automated script is proposed in TCL language. It achievs thedilivertion of business automatically and automatic diagnosis of network failures of MPLS-TPnetwork, enhancing security and reliability of the network platform.Thirdly, the feasibility of MPLS OAM mechanism on the MPLS-TP exchange network isstudied, improving MPLS OAM mechanisms, giving new features and extensions to MPLSOAM mechanisms in MPLS-TP network. The LINK OAM remote loopback mechanism isdesigned and method of constructing error event of LINK OAM is proposed,Recommendations for the perfection of the LINK of OAM functions and reasonable programof the new features is given.At last, combining the ITU-T Y.1731protocol with IEEE802.1ag protocol, the conceptof DOWM MEP and UP MEP is presented. Implementation model of UP MEP, together withpacket transceiver mechanism are designed. SERVICE OAM mechanism of UPMEP is testedand validated.
