The military plotting system based on geographic information system plays an importantrole in the military operations. As a display layer of the command automation systems, it canprovide comprehensive and accurate view of the battlefield situation for the commanders. Withthe rapid development of computer technology, military personnel put forward higherrequirements. The traditional plotting system is single-user system that contradicts therequirements for multi-user plotting at the same time. And the function of the traditional plottingsystem is simple and fixed. In other words, we should expand the existing features in order toachieve the purpose of collaborative plotting, simulation as well as graph-text mutual generationand transformation.The dissertation mainly researches the collaborative situation plotting technology. With thespecific requirements, a collaborative situation plotting system based on XML is designed andimplemented.In this dissertation, the following work is completed:1) The dissertation firstly gives the overall design based on XML and this systemprovides opportunities for multi-user plotting at the same time. The technology of businessprocess is used in the implementation process.2) The dissertation gives a XML data structure that is simple and open, and it’s applicableto transfer information between different systems. Therefore, the data structure is the premise ofsimulation, graph-text mutual generation and transformation, as well as collaborativeinteraction.3) The dissertation gives a multi-user collaborative management approach, includingconflict detection and elimination, the basic login control, group management, permissionsmanagement, and task management. They are used to manage resources, and then the efficiencyof communication and cooperation between the collaborators is improved.4) The dissertation designs and implements the main function module, including situationplotting, simulation, collaborative management, collaborative interaction and others, and then asimple plotting system is achieved.
