Design And Realization Of LAN Host Discovery And Address Management Technology

Network attacks, network worms and some rogue software will bring a heavy burden for network management.This article will start the LAN host discovery and exploration. It will start from a little research work, which provides some fulcrum effect for the future large-scale enterprise Internet. The core function is to find active hosts in the LAN, scan the IP address and MAC address of active hosts and monitor network traffic.The main work content is the following:1. Describes the background, purpose of the study, and the Prospects for the future. Through research and study of the popular home and abroad LAN monitoring software, such as: AnyView (Internet police), LaneCat (network cat), network and other post six generations of, identify problems and explore solutions to those problems;2. Analysis of several methods of finding host, and select the best way. Currently there are two types of host to detect and find methods which are active and passive, active detection methods are more, but use more network bandwidth, and can easily be separated by a firewall, so that the detection results were not comprehensive, and passive detection is to some extent on to avoid this problem, but when detected on the network environment requirements, so there are some limitations of the application, and slow;3. From the protocol analysis,careful study of several active probing IP address and MAC address of the methods, Including IP address scanning, TCP connect scanning, TCP SYN scans, TCP FIN scanning and sub scanning IP packets, UDP ICMP unreachable scanning, and slow scan were studied and analyzed, final, select a relatively rapid and accurate method; 4. The addition of a simple traffic monitoring, through the captured data packets, for information extraction, to obtain the desired information and then judge the LAN host. This method contains a certain randomness, there may be some activities in the host to send packets deceptive misleading, slower, but this method is still able to compare objectively reflect the activities of the host LAN situation;5. Based on the above research and analysis of methods of host discovery and exploration, integrated active and passive detection technology, a LAN host discovery and detection system was proposed, given the system design process, implementation and realization of concrete results, the system can scan a host of activities within the LAN , and can do host information statistics;6. A novel method for network address management based on finding host was proposed, which can instead of the old methods, brings a lot help;7. Finally, the future development of LAN and Internet Outlook, and some bold predictions on future trends.This article uses Windows Sockets Programming, computer networks and protocols with relevant knowledge, the development of active probing tool. Its core strengths is a comprehensive study of the pros and cons of several methods. At last, select the most appropriate way to achieve the corresponding functions. Host discovery process, the host uses a scanning activity half-open TCP port scanning method, a relatively safe and effective manner, but IP address and MAC address detection is used in the way broadcast ARP packets, which can quickly and accurately ARP cache from which to extract the required information.This article mainly focus on the development of practical, speed and accuracy, able to provide the required work for the future research and an address management alternatives.
