Studied the IEC61784-2international standard and the general technicalcharacteristics of real-time Ethernet. Proposed a new real-time Ethernet protocol Onthe basis of foreign real-time Ethernet technology. The protocol take the smart deviceterminal as communication object, which can easily be understood by engineers andtechnicians. The function of the master device can be achieved by the applicationsoftware written in the personal computer (PC), and no real time demands of thecomputer’s operating system. The protocol defines the format of the four frames forthe completion of a variety of services in real-time Ethernet communication. Theseservices include the transmission of process data and service data, networkinitialization, the network clock synchronization and so on. One configuration packetissued by the master will be able to make the entire network complete theinitialization is one of the characteristics of the protocol.Further, designed and Produced the slave device and developed the masterapplication. Introduced VHDL to implement the logic of parsing and processing thenetwork protocol, fit and programmed the logic into the FPGA as the core of the slave. On Windows XP operating system platform, using the WinSock API function inVisual Studio2005integrated development environment to develop applications ofthe master.Connect the master and slave devices constitute a real-time Ethernet systems.Used tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers verifying whether the slave hasreached the requirements of the real-time Ethernet protocol. Used wireshark softwaretesting the master application.Experimental results show that the new real-time Ethernet protocol is simple andeasy to understand, design and implementation of lower cost, better real-time Ethernetperformance. provides a new ideas for the design of small-scale real-time Ethernetcontrol system with independent intellectual property.
