The continuous development of technology imposes higher requirements for themethods of target-scoring in the competition and training. In the traditional system, thescores are read artificially, it wastes a lot of time, the safety of persons and the accuracyof scores cannot be guaranteed. Automatic target-scoring system has a higher accuracyand other functions such as data processing, so the training efficiency can be improvedeasily. Target-scoring systems based on image processing technology, shockwave andphotoelectric effect are the most common kinds of systems. Each of them has their ownunique flaw. The first system has lots of data to process, the speed of bullet in thesecond system cannot be smaller than the speed of sound and the number of I/O pins inthe third system is too large. For above-mentioned lacks, this paper presents a design oftarget-scoring system based on FPGA.In the system mentioned in this paper, paired lasers and photoelectric diodes areused to make up the light screen, the FPGA, the key of the system, is used to collect thesignals when bullets go though the light screen and calculate the coordinates, and thewireless transceiver is used for data transmission between FPGA and PC. The positionwill be displayed on a monitor.Firstly, in this paper, the status and related product applications of automatictarget-scoring system both at home and abroad are analyzed in detail. And on this basis, planning scheme and design of main technical specification are finished, and then theselection of the sensors is accomplished. Secondly, several modules of the target areintroduced in the paper, including the FPGA and wireless transmission modules. Aftercomparing the differences between FPGA and programmable logic devices in tradition, the process of how to obtain the coordinate by scanning sensors has been described.Besides, the wireless transmission module is used to implement the data transmissionbetween the controller of the target and the host computer. Then, the circuits betweenmodules and simulations have been finished. In order to solve the competition problemwhen multiple targets upload data at the same time, the controller is introduced todetermine the order of sending data between different targets. The next part is the hostcomputer. The concept of virtual instrumentation and the implementation of theLabVIEW program combing with the block diagram are introduced. Finally, theverification is made by the automatic target-scoring system, on the base, the error sources are analyzed. The results show that the response of system is fast enough, thesystem can work steadily and the range of errors is acceptable.
