The Design And Development Of The Router Remote Management Assistant

Cisco IOS is Cisco’s network equipment general-purpose operating system. Now,most engineers are still using the command line interface (CLI) on the network deviceconfiguration in the field or remote. In this paper, based on Cisco IOS routers remotemanagement assistant design, through a Telnet connection to graphical user interfaceto configure the router for remote viewing, backup and recovery operations, and to thelocal configuration file and the router itself configuration were compared.This paper analyzes the system and its command in Cisco IOS, TELNET protocol,Winsock library, MFC class libraries. On these foundations, remote managementassistant for the router software functionality needs analysis, based on Visual C++program structure design, and the focus are difficulties of the system design anddiscuss. Software implementation of the main features include: remote access and loginto the router, upload and download configuration files, configuration files forcomparison and other functions. Finally, the paper the results of software testing andevaluation, and design and development work are summarized.The subject of router remote management to achieve the basic functions through thesoftware, engineers can easily configure the router, and configuration files can belearned by the current router is working properly. Therefore, the router remotemanagement assistant software engineers can effectively simplify the networkoperation, and improve efficiency.
