Research On Packet Transport Network(PTN) Technology And Application In 3G Transport Network

Under the trend of telecommunication service IP-based, telecommunications networkis in the pride of development and transition.The business carried by transport network ischanging form TDM-based to IP-based. The 3G business is the most representative.Traditional SDH/MSTP technology can not meet the developmental requirements of dataservices.Packet tansport network(PTN)comes into being.This text firstly introduces the theory and architecture of PTN systematically andcomprehensively.It pays an important attention to analyzing and explaining keytechnologies of the PTN,its implement protocols,network positioning,also some other keyaspects.Next, The paper analyzes the requests of 3G service to transport network. It makes acomparison of the three transmission platforms for the 3G service:SDH/MSTP、IP/MPLS、and PTN. By analysis,it points out that it is necessary for 3G tansport network to introducePTN technology.And proceed from the current situation of Qinhuangdao’s tansportnetwork and the actual demand for the construction of PTN network,it gives theprogramme and design of Qinhuangdao’s 3G PTN tansport network. In theory,it analysisthe feasibility of the network new- builted form optical attenuation loss and dispersion.Finally, it makes a systematic test for new network. The contents of testing includesthe forwarding performance of Multi-service Qos priority;the time of protection switchingand the performance of Multi-service delivery after protection switching;the longperformance of Multi-service;the long-term performance of delay,jitter, packet loss rateand network stability,and so on.The results show that the network new-builted is correctand feasible,which could successfully support voice and data services.
