With the dramatic increasing number of mobile users and rapid development of mobileterminal technologies, the demand of date services is becoming more and more. The wholemobile communication industry is moving toward broadband,IP and individual.Thewireless access network which occupies about30%to50%of total investment could notcatch up with the pace of communication technology development, and it becomes thestumbling block of the communication industry development. In order to improve theperformance of the wireless access network and meet the growing demand ofbandwidth,we not only need to accelerate the rate of wireless date transmission, includingmodulation and coding technology development and antenna technology development, butalso need to speed up the date processing rate, reduce the amount of date flows which needto transmit through the air by the design of wireless access network system andarchitecture.Based with the wireless access system point-to-multipoint architecture, and through thestudy of the different IP datagram format used by different date services as well as thewireless access system RLC PDU encapsulation and decapsulation process, this article putsforward three ways to optimize the IP packet transmission from the perspective of designand implementation of wireless access system with the aim at reducing the length ofdategram, limiting the amount of date flows processed and transmitted and simplifying thecomplexity of the date processing. This three optimization schemes includes IGMPsnooping in wireless access system,layer2and layer3joint head compression of Ethernetframe,RLC PDU format design with fixed head, and zero copy technology used in RLCPDU encapsulation and decapsulation. This paper presents detailed design and realizationof this three schemes, and gives code programming test results. The results demonstrate thisthree IP packet transmission optimization schemes in wireless access network are feasible.
