With the rapid development of Internet and the application of distributed computingin diverse industries,Web service using service orientied architecture has become anindispensable part of the Internet application solution. How to find the Web service onthe Internet quickly and accurately has become an important factor constraining thedevelopment of Web service. The tranditional technology of Web service discoverybased on categories and keyword do not take into account the semantic informationwhich lead to low recall and accuracy. At present, the discovery technology of semanticWeb service becomes the focus of study. In this paper,we study the semantic Web service based on ontology. The researchesare following:After the domain ontology has been built, the semantic similarity betweenontologies was caculated by using the distance of the ontologies and the depth, and theresult was stored in matrix. The semantic information of service was described withontology web language for service while registering web service. The service profile forsemantic web service was stored.During the service search, the query informations werecollected, then transformed into service profile. The similarity of ontologies aboutprofiles was caculated according the matrix. The similarity of profiles was caculated byweighted the similarities of parameters. We designed a serials of experiments to measurethe validity of the algorithm. The tests showed that the method used in this paper canimprove the precision and efficiency of web services discovery.Generally speaking,we make an interview of the domestic and foreigh search statusabout web service. We propose a new solution for web service discovery afteranalysising the shortage of the current technology for web service discovery.
