Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) has become a key research subject home and aboard in recentyears, and shows a great potential in different application fields. Typical WSNs consists of numbers ofsensor nodes which are layout in large monitoring environment randomly. In some specificapplications, sensor nodes even have to work in remote or hostile area. Performance of sensor nodeshas direct effects on entire networks lifetime, however, sensor nodes suffers from all kinds of tests andmay fail. It’s important for the sensor networks to be able to self-detect and self-repair its own failure,which means a lot to the robustness and safety in the networks.Research in self-repairing WSNs hasn’t developed for long time, and mainly focus on networkarchitecture, agreement and detection algorithm, etc. Considering all the above situation, this paperhas some research on the self-repair methods of WSNs, the main contents and innovative work are asfollows:1) This paper set up the system architechure of self-repairing WSNs, which is based on WSNs’feature and engineering application needs. In the mean time design the self-repairing strain WSNsnode.2) In this framework, this paper complete circuit design and plate making of self-repairing nodehardware, on which realize data acquisition, fault detection, fault diagnosis, fault repair and wirelesscommunication and so on. Then this paper put up demonstration system for self-repairing node, andcomplete system design including arrangement and PC software.3) Finish self-repairing fuction test, power consumption test, communication distance test andstrain monitoring calibration based on carbon fiber composite material plate. These tests prove thatself-repairing WSNs node works rapidly and accurately, and meet the requirments of engineeringapplication.
