Wireless sensor network (WSN), which is integrated of the convergence of sensor, embedded calculation and wireless communication technologies, is a novel technology about acquiring and processing information. WSN is characteristic of quick start and strong survivability, so it has been widely used in military, industrial, transportation and environmental protection field. However, because application environments are often inaccessible, wireless sensor network and nodes should be capable of fault diagnosis and repairing by themselves for the demand of stable application. Wireless sensor network and nodes must be of low consumption, low cost, small size and meet other requirements on transmission, reliability, flexibility and security. Combined with the demand of practical engineering and the characteristics of wireless sensor network, the frame of bio-inspired self-healing wireless sensor network is researched and self-healing wireless sensor node based on Field Programmable Array is developed. The major research and innovation are as follows:Firstly, modular frame of bio-inspired self-healing wireless sensor network and node is researched and constructed for the demand of practical engineering and the characteristics of WSN. The advantages of the frame are analyzed in this paper. Secondly, under the modular architecture, the hardware function and PCB design of self-healing wireless sensor node are present. And also, the software platform including fault diagnosis, self-healing and communication programs is developed. Finally, this paper does lots of experiments to analyze and evaluate the consumption, analog-to-digital conversion, transmission distance and the performance of self-healing wireless sensor node.
