In recent years, with the fierce competition in China, more and more students spendmore time studying and pay less attention to physical exercises. As a result, thephysical fitness of the youth has weakened generally, greatly out of proportion to thehigh-speed development of our economy and culture. The State Council and Ministryof Education, having realized the seriousness of the problem, issued th《eComments ofthe CPC Central Committee and State Council on Strengthening Juvenile Sports andImprove Juvenile Health》(NO.[2007]7by CPC Central Committee)and 《Ideas onFurther Strengthening the Work of Physical Education of Colleges and Universities》(NO.2005[4] by Ministry of Education) respectively in which they pointed outthat extracurricular physical exercises is an important part in sports courses ofcolleges and universities. Although the attendance management model the collegesand universities are taking today can solve the problem of attendance management, itcannot guarantee whether students really do exercises or not. It is the core of thesolution of this problem to monitor students extracurricular physical exercisesscientifically and effectively and guarantee the full attendance and actual effect ofsports activities so as to manage calorie consumption. This paper tends to introduce the design and implementation of the ExtracurricularPhysical Exercises Monitoring System, which is based on the secondary developmentof the calorie consumption meter. The system, which records the students calorieconsumption during their extracurricular physical exercises so as to manage calorieconsumption, is of some significance to guarantee the actual effect of extracurricularphysical exercises. During the research, based on the requirements for monitoring andanalyzing students calorie consumption, we use the Unified Modeling Language toanalyze and build models for the system. We also use the J2EE multitier architecturebased on the OSGI to mainly study the actual application of the J2EE multitierarchitecture in the design and implementation of the Extracurricular PhysicalExercises Monitoring System Measuring Calorie Consumption (called the CalorieConsumption Monitoring System for short in the following part). The paper willintroduce the requirements analysis, general design, detailed design, and theimplementation of some key functions such as access control, data acquisition of the Calorie Consumption Meter.Based on Windows Server2003and using MySql5.5, Power Designer12,Eclipse3.6as the data base, the analyzing and modeling tool, and the integration anddevelopment tool for the OSGI、Spring and Hibernate, we have designed andimplemented the Calorie Consumption Monitoring System. The implementation of the Calorie Consumption Monitoring System will realizestudents manage calorie consumption and guarantee the actual effect ofextracurricular physical exercises so as to improve students physical fitness and raisetheir awareness of attending extracurricular physical exercises.
