| Traffic accident reconstruction is one of the most important fields oftraffic safety research and the exact information in traffic accident scenes is thefoundation of traffic accident reconstruction analysis. The objectives of theon-site investigation are composed of some dimension and positionmeasurements with traffic accident scenes, which are mostly obtained bymanual-measure method. It is commonly known that the manual-measuremethod is a time-consuming task, easily causing traffic congestions and itcan’t add extra information once the accident scene is removed.To overcome the above mentioned disadvantages and satisfy thepractical need of traffic accident scene investigation, two sorts ofinvestigation system in traffic accident scene, i.e. portable and vehicularaccident scene investigation were designed and established.First of all, a review of current research and application situation ofphotogrammetry method in both science and engineering is conducted and it wasfound that the application of the binocular vision photogrammetry was a blank incurrent traffic accident scene investigation. Then, intrinsic camera parameters andextrinsic parameters were determined and calibrated by the methods of twodimension and three dimension photogrammetric theory and experiment.Experiments showed that the average measure errors of these two sorts ofdevice were within1%and the operation time of traffic accident sceneinvestigation based on a simulative accident scene was proven to be less than15minutes.These two sorts of investigation system manage to accomplish all theinvestigation processes, including evidence gathering, image processing(three dimension reconstruction and image matching), plotting and casemanagement. These two sorts of investigation system are convenient andapplicable to meet the practical need of traffic accident scene investigation, therefore they will certainly provide brand new equipments for quickinvestigation of traffic accident scene. |
