In recent years, with the quantity of mobile vehicle keeping on increment, the number of road traffic accidents increases severely, and the treatment of the traffic accident on the road faces the new challenge. The traditional method of reconnoitering the scene of the traffic accident by hands will take a very long time. The precision is low and it's apt to omit some important data. It has not been able to meet the requests on the processes in modern traffic accident. Digital photogrammetry technology gives feasibility to realize traffic accident scene fast investigation.The image manipulation technology basic principles of photogrammetry, edge detection and feature points extraction and 3D reconstruction in traffic accident scene investigation were introduced in this paper.On the base of analyzing the imaging characteristic of digital camera, through adopting monocular photogrammetry technology, solving of nonlinear distortion and calibration of digital camera's interior and external parameters are decomposed into three steps. Then nonlinear distortion and calibration of digital camera's interior parameters can be resolved by experiment. Process's decomposing, module's independency were realized. Mutual influence of parameters is reduced and measure precision is improved.Nonlinear distortion of image is mainly brought by the combination error of lens in camera. In current condition, radial distortion of image is the main factor which influences image effect. Parameters of the nonlinear distortion is mainly resolved through standard gridding in this paper.The test proves that above-mentioned schemes are comparatively simple and easy to do. In addition, the precision of measure can meet practical application in photogrammetry in traffic accident scene.
