With the arrival of cloud storage, not only does the date in network storage accelerateexplosively, but also in the increasing demands on performance and reliability. Nowadays, SANmade up with mechanical hard disks has great advantages in the large capacity and sequentialread/write, which has not met the needs for social development. However, current virtualtechnology and some applications based on database, such as video on demand and e-commerce,are in extraordinary need of fast random access. Solid-state hard drives are acclaimed for its highrandom access and ultra-low delay. But its high price is too far behind to catch up for the storageindustry. In view of this, this article implements the technology of intelligent solid-state cache andprovides a network storage system solution which has a high random performance. The mainsubject of study as follows:1. This paper displayed the current conditions of random performance at home and abroadand the mainstream network storage architecture features, analyzed and compared thecharacteristics and mechanism at different RAID levels.2. The block device and device mapping mechanism in Linux kernel were fully researched. In this paper, the I/O requesting method and implementation mechanism of dates were analyzed. Then, this article studied the process of the physical volume mapped to logical volume usingdevice mapper mechanism. Based on this, the intelligent solid-state flashcache (ISSF) wereresearched and achieved, which greatly improved the random performance of storage systems. After that, this paper prominent descripted the logical architecture and implementationmechanism of ISSF and presents the creation methods and the specific realization for allfunctions.3. The realization of Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and iSCSI protocol were the keypoints in this paper. LVM was explained with a case and the iSCSI architecture, error recoverymechanisms, as well as the process of session implementation were also researched. The networkused the technology of bonding, in order to achieve load balancing and disturbance switchingtechnology and further enhanced the performance of storage systems.4. At last, we had a comprehensive test of performance, functionality, stability for the entirenetwork storage systems.
