The computer-supported technology is now rarely applied in emergencymanagement in China. Communication and resources control in emergencymanagement still depends on traditional ways. Motivated by the situation describedabove, we design and implement a collaboration system for emergency management.We purpose to establish a unified platform for information dissemination andcollaborative work, helping emergency management team to finish the rescue taskscollaboratively.This paper presents a collaboration system for emergency management. Thesystem is called CoSpace, and it has web client and iOS client. They are designedrespectively to support the emergency managing staffs in fixed workplaces and therescue staffs in ubiquitous environment. The web client called Web CoSpace isproposed to have the following modules: online meeting, information sharing,integrated information visualization tools and resource control. Meanwhile, the iOSclient called Mobile CoSpace has an enhancement of enabling augmented realitybrowser, real-time photo sharing and location sharing. The CoSpace is establishedbased on service-oriented architecture. The system has been deployed, and users canaccess it through web browser and iOS devices.In this paper, we improve the interaction design of the existing collaborationsystems for emergency management and make it usable on mobile platforms. Thiswork provides a running prototype system for experimental study of emergencymanagement.
