Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) is a computer-based technology, it gets the different sources of data together to show the integrated ship navigation system including electronic navigation charts, location information, GPS, compass and radar information. These comprehensive information can help seafarers better understand the ship driving conditions and the best solution to make decisions. With the computing power of digital signal processing, ship navigation can provide more extended features, such as navigation warning, monitoring and track records and other functions. In the field of maritime technology, electronic chart display and information system technology is considered to be another milestone following the radar after the technological revolution.In the ECDIS systems study field, the radar image is a key part of the collection. In the early research stage, the radar echo data is only collected by the real radar through actual field tests. Each acquisition is spending a lot of human and material resources, and data collected by the geographical environment and climatic conditions, can not repeat the test. These shortcomings lead to the actual radar signal acquisition much more difficult, not easy to laboratory research. With the use of radar video signal simulator, one can easily generate the local correlation algorithm based on the radar video data into the radar video signal output directly for collecting experimental use, with a high degree of flexibility, efficiency and cost advantages.This paper is focused on marine radar echo video signal simulator researching and designing. Marine radar system requirements is proposed based on USB2.0 interface and CPLD architecture, according to the different functional modules were carried out design. The hardware platform provides the PC algorithm and post-class signal acquisition experiments strong support.
