At present, the complex product virtual prototyping for supporting multidisciplinary collaborative CAx/DFx technology is one of the studying hotspots on complex product manufacturing industry. How to integrating the multidisciplinary tools that in distributed and heterogeneous environment for effective design and simulation has become one of the major challenges faced in the multidisciplinary virtual prototyping application process. Tool integration development has high complexity, involving a wide range of disciplines. Currently tool integration research used is in tightly coupled manner, lack of the flexibility in the integration development and the plug and play ability.To solve the above problems, the following works have been done: Firstly, considering the heterogeneous and distributed characteristics of multidisciplinary tool software in virtual prototype engineering, a three-layer, general tool software integration framework was presented. The integration framework was made up of platform layer,integration implemention layer,and application layer, based on the model driven architecture (MDA) and component technology, decoupled integration business logic and information interaction, achieve a loosely coupled integration of multidisciplinary tools. Then we study the key technologies of tool integration and their implementation: the intergrative modeling, tool adapter, and tool interface in accordance with integration specification. We describe the methods of tool interface development and the implementation of typical software integration in details, design the mechanism of tool adapter which control the disciplinary model solve and information share, encapsulate tool software to simulation component that can be assembled on the soft-bus. We implement tool adapter using the code automatic generation technology. Finally, the tool integration technologies are introduced by one typical applicaton, a collaborative development instance of airborne optical radar virtual prototype, and the resarch result achieve well validation.
