| Since the mid-1990s, teaching Chinese as a foreign language develops rapidly,the number of foreign students is increasing accordingly. The learners’ age becomesyounger and younger, which means the primary and high school students are the mostimportant part. However, the Chinese textbook for the youth are unable to meet theneeds of the market whether in quantity or quality, even more the Chinese textbookonly for children. According to the needs of learners and analysis of the market, itneeds further study on the Chinese textbook for children, especially for the topic andvocabulary. For children, efficiency of learning is decided by the learners’ interests toChinese.For the language textbook, the topic effects on the books’ interest directly.Vocabulary is the foundation of language learning. Based on the children’s learningrules, grammar is not the same important as vocabulary. Therefore, this thesis aims tostudy the topic and vocabulary of two Chinese textbook for children.Based on the textbook available, this thesis tries to establish the corpora, analysisthe current Chinese textbook for children from the perspective of the topic,vocabulary, frequency of word recurrence and word-level. And it tries to compare thevocabulary with HSK and YCT vocabulary, which aims to give some advices to fixthe textbook, HSK and YCT vocabulary. Therefore, it gives some suggestionsfollowing: firstly, choosing the number of vocabulary and interested topic is the keyfor a textbook. Secondly, the textbook needs to emphasis the frequency of wordrecurrence. The last, the textbook needs to emphasis the word-level and thedistribution of the vocabulary in the book. |
