The Study Of Ideological And Political Education In Colleges And Universities Under The Background Of Popular Culture

Since the1980’s, the term popular culture has been gradually appeared in China’sdomestic academic journals, popular magazines and newspapers. Inadvertently, mass culturehas been gradually integrated into the daily life of the people. The mass culture waswelcomed by many young people because of its popularity and entertainment etc.; however,mass culture is contradicted with the domestic ideological and political education becauseofits inclusiveness and diversity cultural view. Therefore, the emergence of mass culture wouldgive the ideological and political education workers a serious challenge, how to build a newway of ideological and political education in the new period in the acceptable form forstudents is still a worth studying topic. This paper aims to research the origin of mass culturein abroad and domesticand its impact on the domestic ideological and political education; thenthis article shall put forward reasonable suggestionsfor the ideological and political educationwork in popular culture background.This article is divided into three parts. The first part analyze the concepts of culture, massculture, traditional culture and elite culture from the point of philosophy. Thenit will clarifythe unique meaning of mass culture. At the same time, this part will analyses the origin ofmass culture and its expression form in China. Mass culture is analyzed on the basis of dailylife of people especially the youth groups. In the second part of this article the author shallfocus on the ideological and political education work’s challenges under the background ofpopularmass culture in today’s Chinese society. Specifically, the mass culture mainly poseschallenges to the ideological and political education work from values, mode of transmissionand discourse. In this paper, the third part mainly discusses the innovation of ideological andpolitical education work under the background of mass culture under. The main point of thispart of is that the ideological and political education work must be insisted on the premise ofthe mainstream values and actively absorbing the reasonable parts of the mass culture, which makes the ideological and political education work to be the organic combination with youngpeople’s daily life.In conclusion, popular culture is the reality in a modern society, which the ideologicaland political education work must face and accept. This means that the ideological andpolitical education work must be right against the various grave challenges which have beenput forwarded by popular culture. Only the ideological and political education work insistedon advancing with The Times, continuous innovation, new results can be achieved.
