| Nowadays, most of the countries attach great importance to children’s reading problems. They think reading ability is the foundation and core of all learning abilities, and also the basic capability of the people in the future. For China, the educators find a problem. That is language teaching is time-consuming and inefficient in Chinese teaching field. They think the main reason is the lack of amount of reading and the incorrect methods used by the students. Therefore, the Chinese teachers have to consider how to lead students to the reading world, to read books as many as they can, to open up their horizons, to enrich their knowledge, and to build good reading habits. As the students’reading ability improves, their physical and psychological health of the growth can be fully excavated, and to meet the challenges of the future society with a higher overall quality. It should be the ultimate goal of reading teaching.The purpose of this study is to present the current situation of reading after school of primary school students through empirical way, and to promote the Chinese teachers to think and reflect the problems of reading teaching in primary schools. Another purpose is to optimize the reading strategies through the analysis of the status, to improve the language literacy of primary school students. At last, this study also wants to change and update teachers’teaching concept, the values of education and students ’outlook on educational concepts. The upgrading of teachers’ professional level will be promoted in this way.In this study, the questionnaire was used to make a survey on250students in high and middle grades of a primary school. It’s about the current situation of primary school students’ reading. After analyzing the survey, some efficient strategies for improving the pupils’ reading are put forward. |
