The rapid development of life education does not only call for attention to the life of students, but also to the life of teachers. In the context of life education, it’s of both theoretical value and practical significance to take into consideration the existence conditions of junior middle school history teachers in the counties.This paper, with an interest in this group and with a particular focus on the junior middle school history teachers in the counties of Jilin province, seeks to give an objective description of their existence conditions, and probes into the problems existed based on both literature analysis and interviews, as a conclusion, some principles and coping strategies which are of both theoretical value and practical significance have been suggested to improve the existence conditions of history teachers working in junior middle schools of the counties.Through careful investigation and summarization, we’ve found that, in the objective aspect of the existence conditions of the junior middle school history teachers, problems such as unsatisfactory salary, poor working environment, low social status and little emphasis on the history subject have been common. While in the subjective aspect of the group we have studied, we’ve also found that they have showed less positive attitude, lower demands for professional development, obscure awareness of career development, as well as less happiness and satisfaction. We then studied the causes that would accountable for these problems, such as the imbalance of development between urban and rural areas, the imperfection of the education evaluation system, the low recognition of history teachers, and the ignorance of the life of individual history teachers rooted in our traditional culture. At last, based on the principles of life education as well as the findings of our research, we concluded with the following suggestions and coping strategies for enhancing both life quality and life levels of junior middle school history teachers in the counties:relevant guiding policies should be strengthened; the exchange and sharing mechanism between urban and rural areas should be established; the continuing education should be promoted; the function and values of history subject should be well recognized; the developmental assessment system should be formed and adequate attention should be paid to teachers through life education.
