A Study On The Role Volunteer Activities Played In The Ideological And Moral Qualities Of College Students

Since Young Volunteers Association established in1993, volunteer activities flourish in Chinese. College student volunteers is the subject of youth volunteer service teams, students’ volunteer activities are of epochal and public character, voluntary and equal character, mass and sociality, educational and practical feature. In rural poverty alleviation, urban community development, environmental protection, major events, students’volunteer activities played an important role in such areas.Volunteer activities work closely with ideological and political education of college students. The main aspect of ideological and moral quality of college students is well, political thoughts of the most college students are positive and self-awareness increased, tended to be pragmatic, but under the influence of socio-political situation, economic condition, cultural background, and the students themselves, some university students lack of firm political convictions, self-centered, weak in the sense of collective, utilitarianism, moral cognition is separated from moral practice. It’s necessary to find a proper way to improve the ideological and moral quality of college students for college students have the unique characteristic and social personality. College students’volunteer activities are parts of social practice. It’s also an important part and a new carrier of ideological and political education. It plays a positive role in showing moral quality of college students, promoting integrated quality, and cultivating moral consciousness and firming belief, forming habits of good moral behavior, training collective concept and social sense, and improving practice ability and self-realization. College students’volunteer activities play a unique role in improving college students’thoughts and moral quality.There are still some problems in the course of college students’volunteer activities, this article analysis on the main problems:misunderstanding, lack of perfect activity mechanism, activities focused on forms, lack of teachers’ training. Countermeasures are:paying attention to the moral value of students’volunteer activities. Establishing a "three in one" volunteer service system together with the government, social and colleges; bringing volunteer activities into educational content, strengthening guidance, establishing a uniform standard, enhancing the training of school counselors; summarizing experiences to improve the students’ volunteer activities.
