Contemporary College Students Volunteer Activities, Ideological And Political Educational Value And Its Implementation

Volunteering, a social activity of high loftiness, has progressed substantially withsociety and human development, and has got increasing social acceptance as well asthe volunteering spirit. Chinese volunteering activity, originating from the"Learn-From-Leifeng"activity in 1960s, is strongly associated with traditionalChinese virtues. As the development of Chinese volunteering and kinds of youthvolunteer association, a group of undergraduate volunteers, who insist on the belief of"contribution, friendship, mutual help and progress", has entered people's visual field,and has become a source of fresh blood of the volunteer group.Contemporary undergraduate volunteering activity has played an important roleon promoting social progress and undergraduates'all-dimensional development,especially on their ideological and political education. Undergraduate volunteeringactivity has important value of ideological and political educational as an effectiveform of ideological and political education. This paper researches the communityvalue and individual value of undergraduate volunteering activity. The communityvalue is mainly reflected in the following three areas: promoting the mainstreamideology and strengthening their core value system; uniting people and promoting aharmonious society construction; guiding social morality and promoting the greatdevelopment of moral education. Individual value is mainly reflected in the followingfour areas: sticking to the correct ideology, and guiding individual political orientation;achieving the conversion between subject and object; reinforcing the moralfoundation and enhancing the individual self-cultivation; stimulating the spirit ofpower and mobilizing individual initiative.However, current undergraduate volunteering activity is stilled retrained by manydifficulties that have restricted its own development, and is unable to fully realizetheir value in the ideological and political education. This paper analyzes from theaspects of location, ideology, security, management and operation and thus to addressthe constraints of undergraduate volunteering development, and promote the rapid development of volunteer services, and achieve their ideological and politicaleducational value.
