It is no doubt that English is one of the most important and widely used languages in the world. Over70percent of E-mail is written in English,60percent of radio programs are broadcast in English all over the world, and80percent of international conferences are held by speaking English. Due to the great importance of English, in China, all the students from primary school to university have to study English as a main subject. However, there are a great number of students who are afraid of studying English, and they cannot get a high goal in the examination, little by little, they lose their confidence to learn English or give up learning English. These students are defined as the students with learning disabilities.Take the Senior High School of Guangming District, Shenzhen, where the author took her teaching practice, for example, there are more than3000students. Nearly30%of them are students with English learning disabilities. In the last three examinations,28%of them did not get the passing score-90points. What are the main reasons of this phenomenon? Are there any transformation strategies? The author did the research among195representative students with English learning disabilities from the Senior High School of Guangming District, Shenzhen. Through questionnaires, interviews, tests, the author collected the data and analyzed it. This thesis, based on Constructivism, Motivational Theories, and Attribution Theory by American psychologist B. Weiner, tries to discover the reasons why there are so many students with English learning disabilities in the Senior High School of Guangming District, Shenzhen. The result of experiment reveals the causes of those who are with learning disabilities, and the reasons are as following:1. The internal causes include: intelligence factors, non-intelligence factors, study strategies and achievement attribution.2. The external causes include:social factors, school factors, family factors, etc.According to the causes analysis and characteristics analysis, the present research supplies the following strategies to help those students who suffer from English learning disabilities:1. Teach students to make correct attribution2. Respect those students with learning disabilities in English study and pay more attention to them.3. Improve teachers’teaching methods and teach students in accordance with their aptitude.4. Work closely with parents and create a good learning environment.5. Try to find a scientific and effective method of study, improve their learning ability. This thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter1is Introduction, which includes the background of the study, significance of the study, research questions and the structure of the thesis; Chapter2is the theoretical foundation of the thesis.
