Everyboby made or will make different kinds of mistakes in the mathematics learningprocess. Therefore, errors have been the focus of the teachers in the process of learningmathematics. The errors are not generated by chance, but reflects a variety of potential factorsof how the students making these errors. So the identification, conclusion and summary, analysisand research of the errors, as well as the lessons from them, became an important aspect ofmathematics education process. This paper described different opinions on the important role of errors in the learning ofmathematics from different perspectives.Combined with these several education sychology:behaviorism, cognitive socialist, humanism and constructivism. The author has collected thecommon students’ errors from his mathematics teaching practice, he’s summarized andclassified these seven types of errors which the junior high school students always make:1.Conceptual error;2. Moderation error;3. Operation error;4. Psychological factors;5.Logic errors;6. Thinking errors;7. Methods and strategies errors.According to the different manifestations of the errors, the author classified these majortypes of errors specifically, listed some common mistake examples, as well as studied andanalyzed the reasons of these errors. Based on these, the author proposed some practicalteaching strategies and methods to train students’ ability of solving problems and correctstudents’ mathematical errors in class. In this paper, we attempted to find the sources of theerrors, based on the study of students’ errors in mathematics learning, and put forward somereasonable comments and practical suggestions to guide the future mathematics teaching.
