The realation between classical and vernacular is an important problem in the ModernChinese Courses and Teaching. It is significant for the Chinese courses and teaching to handlethe realation between classical and vernacular. According to the two stages in the history oftheearly twentieth century, the late twentieth century to the new century, this thesis will reviewthe evolution and enlightenment of the realation between classical and vernacular Since theend of Qing Dynasty by adopting the methods of literature induction,history research and soon.Introductory chapter of this thesis briefly describes the definition of the relevantconcept,the object, the scope, the significance, and the current condition of this study, as wellas the basic idea, the structure and the framework of the research.The first part, disputes about classical Chinese and vernacular in the Modern ChineseCourses and Teaching in early twentieth Century. Before Chinese became the independentsubject,the scope of the discussion of the relation between classical and vernacular is verysmall. Vernacular Movement before and after the1920s leded to a heated disputes aboutclassical Chinese and vernacular.It triggered a discussion of the “save the Chinese” in the1930s. Followed by a discussion on Secondary School Students’ Chinese extent, it wasattributed to the classical teaching. Disputes about classical Chinese and vernacular in the1940s promote the development of classical and vernacular teaching, further accelerated themodernization process of Chinese Language Education,Promote the development of Chineselanguage education.The second part, the realation between classical and vernacular in the modern Chinesecourses and teaching in the late twentieth Century to the new century. After the founding ofthe People’s Republic of China to the "Cultural Revolution" period, there is a closerelationship between Chinese and politics.Chinese classical and vernacular mixed to prepareIn Chinese teaching. Teaching requirements are not clear enough. The proportion of ClassicalChinese and the vernacular repeated changed In Chinese curriculum.It triggered a discussionon the necessity of classical teaching in1980’s. At the end of the twentieth Century" ancientChinese literature search” is hot,”ancient poetry reading project"and" classical revival theory"cause controversy. Since the new century, under the background of new curriculum reform, it triggered a series of new discussion about classical Chinese teaching. The discussion focuseson the problems classical Chinese revivalism, the importance of classical Chinese, Promotionof the vernacular,desalination of classical Chinese teaching, the role of the classical Chineseteaching and so on.The third part, enlightenment from the evolution of the realation between classical andvernacular in the modern Chinese courses and teaching. This thesis based on the evolution ofthe realation between classical and vernacular mainly get the following enlightenment:First ofall, We must try to seek the harmony and unity realationship between classical andvernacular,the two should be a dialectical unity and an inseparable relationship.secondly,classical Chinese teaching plays an irreplaceable important role in Chinese courses andteaching.Thirdly, writings in classical Chinese teaching must follow the law of languagedevelopment. Fourthly, we must accurately grasp the pulse of the times, Absorb the nutritionof the debate, continuously improve the educational philosophy.
