As the development of Chinese society and the acceleration of pace of life, mental problems become more prominent. College students, the special group who is going to join in the society, are faced with tremendous pressure. However, college students is during the transition from adolescent to adulthood and their physiology and psychology are still on the way to be mature. With high self-positioning and strong success desire but lack of social experience and survival skills, college students are easy to be frustrated. Many researches prove that mental problems such as anxiety, depression, hostility, self-abased and fickleness are haunting around college students. Varying degrees of mental problems, mental diseases and mental disorder have led to the quit or suspension of education even suicide.With long history and deep cultural connation, traditional health preservation exercise has great influence on adjustment of psychology, which has been proved by many researches. However, the effect of such course hasn’t been researched yet. This study applied the methods of literature, experts interview, observation, measurement, experiment and mathematical statistics to study the mental influence of traditional health preservation exercise on the selective classes students (not sport major) of2009and2010grades from Beijing Sport University.After8-week study of traditional health preservation exercise course, the research results show that:1. subjects’mental health had improved, and all the indexes had been to the benign development;2. the mood indexes had been to the benign development and anger and mood scores had reached significance level;3. it’s more easy for college students to get calm instead of nervousness, impatience and anger and symptoms of somatization had got certain regulation;4. traditional health preservation course had advantage of adjustment of indexed of anger, depression, mood scores and fear over other coursed;5. the mental condition had improved but not obviously. This might be led by the lack of class hour, in other words, eight weeks might be too short;6. except the influence of the main content of the course Qigong, the Chinese traditional culture background and corresponding music also had influence on students’mental health.
