The development of modern technology and modern society, have an urgent need for alarge number of scientific literacy personnel. The “ordinary high school physics curriculumstandards (trial version)” make improving the scientific literacy of all high school students as afundamental objective, reflects the importance and urgency of improving scientific literacy. Thehistory of physics is an important way to cultivate scientific literacy. History of Physics hasunique features to the overall objective of the new curriculum, it plays an important role forstudents to understand the cognitive processes and learning experiences in the course of humanexploration of the science research, and foster a scientific attitude and scientific spirit, therefore,it can improve students’ scientific literacy. We should give more attention to the educationalvalue of the scientific literacy of the history of physics.Studies have shown: penetration of the education of physics history in high school teaching,can have an effect on improving the scientific literacy of students from the following asides.First, to students’ learning interesting, carry out the education of history of physics can stimulatestudents’ interest in learning, increase students’ enthusiasm. Second, the education of history ofphysics helps students to understand scientific knowledge. Third, it can enhance students’ criticalthinking and sense of exploration, and enhance the students’ sensitivity of scientific andtechnical information. Fourth, it can improve students’ scientific attitude and spirit.This passage discusses scientific literacy’s4asides, contains “scientific knowledge andskills”,“scientific inquiry”,“science emotions, attitudes and values”,“science, technology andsocial relations”, correctly describes the educational function of the history of physics in raisinghigh school students’ scientific literacy. Every part includes the combination of the history ofphysics and high school physics teaching instructions.This passage proposes three principles in using of the history of physics to improve highschool students’ scientific literacy, which should follow the “typical”,“authenticity” and“interesting”.From the interpretation of the curriculum standards, textbooks characteristics, teacherfactors, and conduct ways to explore the way of how to improve high school students’ scientificliteracy by the history of physics. Find4ways of using history of physics to improve high schoolstudents’ scientific literacy, include “grasping the requirements of the curriculum standards andtextbooks characteristics”,“improving physics teachers’ scientific literacy”,“improve high school students’ scientific literacy in classroom teaching”,“improve high school students’scientific literacy in extra-curricular activities”.The passage also analyzes the example-the teaching of “atomic nuclear structure model”,explores how to conduct the teaching based the history of physics and what should be noted.This may be helpful for teachers to grasp of the strategy of implementation in using history ofphysics to improve high school students’ scientific literacy. Design an instructional example of“motion of the planets”, illustrates the method of highlighting the main line of the history ofphysics, it has reference value to actual teaching of high school physics teaching.
