Abstract/Summary:
With the rapid development of economy and the transformation of higher education from elitism to populism, independent institutes spring up and boom quickly to play an important role in the field of higher education throughout our country. In 2008, the eruption of international financial crisis brought college graduates into serious scrapes in finding jobs. Having been developing for a short period of time and being the third batch colleges, independent institutes have to bear more pressure and face more challenges in dealing with the employment of graduates, which in turn directly influence the survival and sustainable development of these colleges. Thus, improving the employability and competitiveness of graduates to promote the sustainable, healthy, and harmonious development of independent institutes has become an important topic in recent research. This thesis/article generally analyzed the status quo of graduates employment in independent institutes under new situations. It mainly made investigations about the influential factors and evaluation of employability from the perspective of graduates, and about the assessment and suggestions of talents training for independent institutes from the perspective of employing units through questionnaires. The ultimate goal of these investigations is to explore the deep influential factors of graduates’ employability. Meanwhile, combining the distinct features of independent institutes, this thesis suggests adopting suitable measures to further promote the comprehensive ability and employability of graduates from five respects, namely talents cultivation patterns, specialty setup, curriculum system construction, practical competence training, employment guidance, and transformation of employment notions, which will help finally achieve full employment of graduates to the greatest extent in independent institutes. The results of this research will not only benefit the development of independent institutes practically, but also provide scientific basis for the future macroscopical policies of the government.
