The livelihoods approach is relatively stable subsistence scheme or approach, it isclosely related to the natural and social environment and where people are. Wuling area,due to the special geographical conditions, the local people in the stage of crude farmingfishing and hunting in a long time. With the development of the times, especially afterthe reform and opening up, the market-oriented depth to break the pattern of past closed,more and more Tujia people choose to migrant workers to maintain their livelihood, andthis choice is mostly for the villagers’ self-awareness. In addition, the implementation ofpro-poor policies to promote the development of rural tourism. Thus, the transfer ofsurplus labor through the development of the Wuling area, ecological and culturalresources to gradually become a new way to make a living. This change is not man’swill, for the transfer, has a strong background and practical significance.This paper taking the HeWan Village Youyang Town Chongqing City as anCase,through the methods of field research on contemporary Tujia means of livelihoodchanges. Learn about local farming also has the fisheries livelihoods reasons for thechange, workers in the proportion of the economy in the local and the resultinginfluence; and then explore the changes of government guidance, the travel serviceindustry to produce and bring benefits. Demonstrated with the progress of society,especially the deepening of reform and opening up the market economy has widened theinterpersonal side, with the outside world exchanges the Wuling area become morefrequent. In the changing of the natural and social environment, people’s livelihoodoptions become increasingly diverse. The coexistence of a variety of means oflivelihood to change the social structure of villages, also have brought changes to theTujia cultural, social consciousness, and many other aspects.
