The Satir Family Therapy Model And Its Application: A Case Study In Mainland Of China

The Satir family therapy model is based on humanistic psychotherapy. It isbelieved that humanity itself has the energy of growth and changes. In the process ofsolving the clients’ problems, Satir gradually expanded family systems, theself-esteem of human beings and other concepts and formed basic triangle relationship,existence stances. She also developed some lively and practical interventions,including family remodeling. In recent years, many psychologists, counselors,therapists and social workers try to use the Satir family therapy to afford services fortheir clients in China. However, the application in China is just getting started. Thereis a lack of the relevant literature especially the information on the case studies.Given the current situation, in this research, the Satir family therapy is used toexplore its application in solving client’ problems. Through remodeling the client’families, The research tries to solve the client’ problems in mind, to help the clientevaluate herself and other important people in her life with a new perspective, and toenhance their self-esteem.This research aims to solve the client’ problems by remodeling her families,using case study method, applying the methods and techniques of Satir model. Theresearch also assesses, discusses and summarizes the implementation effect, givingrecommendations for further research.
