Modern Chinese Derivatives Research

Derivative is a kind of word which derived from the word formation,it consists of roots and affixes the formation of additional methods. In the modern Chinese vocabulary, the word formation is not the primary type of word formation pattern, and compared to compound words the proportion of derived words is low, but it is a class of words in the Chinese word formation that can not be avoided.The history of derivative can be traced back ancient Chinese times, after the development of medieval and early modern Chinese,in modern Chinese derivative structure is more varied and complex, especially some modern and contemporary quasi-affixes, make derived words and compound words in Chinese increasingly blurred; In essence, the cause of the derivative is the cause of the affix, from the source point of view there are native affixes and affixes from other languages, the former’s production is a result of polysyllabic vocabulary and a part of the derivative quoting from oral. The latter mainly from the affixes in other languages, they have entered the Chinese word-formation by language contact.In word formation, derived root words to affix additional compound words in a way different from other words,which determines the derivative of the morphological analysis of the follow aspects closely:the natures of affix and root、word formation model derived、the way of expressing meaning in word formation of affix and root.Essentially affixes word formation is a form of modern Chinese flag,and the roots of Chinese derivative are what can express the basic meaning,they are the real morphemes or words;Affix position in the word formation is relatively fixed, so there are three basic types of derivative:"prefix+root","root+suffix" and "root+affix+root".In the process of the meaning expression, affix completed the additional meaning of the words,while root express the basic meaning of the vocabulary, both of them constitute the meaning of the word in an additional way.Used the nature of affixes as a starting point,we can see that derivative is open in the system,productivity of the affix make the one can create a lot of derivative with different roots.The mean of common sense’s joining,derived have a generic feature in the sense.Finally,derivatives are selective in the pragmatics because affix voice weakened and affix meaning generalization.Derivative of the internal and external have not been static,on the one hand root and affix have transformed into each other.On the other hand,the conversion of root and affix affected directly the boundaries of derivative and non-derivative.So we can say that derivative and non-derivative have not been isolated from each other,which embodies the complexity of the language.
