Affix, especially quasi-affix has been the most controversial issue in the field of Chinese language study. these controversial issues mainly concentrated in the nature and scope of affix and quasi-affix, which affects the establishment Chinese word formation system, and also affects the identify of modern Chinese categories. At present, as to the constantly enrichment of the social life ,the modern Chinese vocabulary system is experiencing significant changes. Affix, which was thought to be relatively closed system, started to be active. A number of new morpheme which have strong ability of word formation gradually have the characteristics of affix and quasi-affix. Therefore, it is essential important to build the theoretical system which is suitable for Chinese affix and quasi-affix.She Mengying (1986) presented her thought on the trend of Chinese root affixation. She thought that the trend of root affixation is a gradually process. In the process, the root, quasi-affix and affix are separately the production of different seedtime. The advance of root affixation made the controversial issue of the study field be explained.Based on the affix examples which be mentioned in the 10 well-known books in the study field, we used the theory of grammaticalization and word-building, with the method of the combination of description and explanation, the combination of the diachrony time and synchrony time ,and also the combination of dynamic state and state, we analysed the character and quantity. And then, combined with affixes which had been mentioned in some new words dictionaries and thesis, we analysed the reason of the procreant of root affixation and the character of the new words produced by root affixation, as well as the influence of root affixation to Chinese vocabulary system.The study of Chinese root affixation can help us have a clear acquaintanceship to the formation process and character of Chinese affix, and also can help us grasp the character of Chinese word-building exactly.
