Study On The New Quasi-affix Denoting Person In Modern Chinese

This thesis makes the new quasi-affix denoting person which emerges from the 21st century as the main objects of study. We comprehensive use the knowledge and research results about modern Chinese vocabulary and modern grammar theories, make the combination of description and explanation, combination of static state and dynamic state, combination of synchrony times and diachrony times, and try to analyze and describe the quasi-affix denoting person from different angles base on deepening the cognition about the natural problems of the quasi-affix of modern Chinese. Throgh these, we want to find out the developments of the Chinese words and the Chinese word-formation clearly, to provide the theoretical basis for the study about the Chinese word-formation, the vocabulary materials for the language and culture studies in specific period, and to help to further perfect the processing of dictionary-compiling and improve the quality of teaching Chinese vocabulary as a foreign language. The full text is divided into six chapters:Chapter1:Introdution. We summarize the problems of this issue, give the reason of writing this thesis on the new quasi-affix denoting person, the research situation of the quasi-affix denoting person, the contents, the principle and research methods.Chapter2:Establishment and processing of the quasi-affix denoting person corpus. We introduce how to establish the corpus, including the principle of selecting, the source of the material as well as the fundamental of sampling. At the same time, we introduce the way of processing, including labeling, proofreading and relevant statistical analysis.Chapter3:Range and characteristics of the old quasi-affix denoting person. We count up and compare the old quasi-affix denoting person of the 12 representative books or papers. Exemplifying the 10 quasi-affix with higher recognition of these, we analyze and describe the natural characteristics and external characteristics of the old quasi-affix denoting person.Chapter4:Characteristics and functions of the new quasi-affix denoting person. We list the 17 new quasi-affix denoting person in detail, and analysis the charactersistics from length of derived words, combining form, root categories and formation pattern. Then, combining with examples, we describe the four functions in the expression of the new quasi-affix in detail.Chapter5:Evolution approaches of the new quasi-affix denoting person. We indicate there are four evolution approaches of the new quasi-affix denoting person. They are grammaticalization from the nouns denoting person; grammaticalization from the kindred appellation; evolution via metaphor and evolution from the foreign words or morphemes.Chapter6:Epilogue. We prospect the development of the new quasi-affix denoting person will show three trends. At the same time, we point out the shortcomings existing in this research.
