Skin, vessel, muscle, tendon and bone are the basic partition of stratified anatomy in Huangdi Neijing. Skin lies on the outermost layer which is the first safeguard of human. Suwen Pibulun is the preliminary summary of skin’s theory in the Neijing period, but after Neijing period the development and research on dermal parts theory is in a lag phase. In the modern period the researches on this area are also not thorough and systematacially.This paper combines the literature research and theoretical research to review the literature of dermal parts theory in Neijing. From the point of text exegesis study referring to the connotation of some texts of dermal parts theory; Consulting the interpretation of ancient healer and the understanding of contemporary medical scientist on related issues to carry out thorough research on correlative theories by the methods of analysis, induction and ratiocination.In order to get an overall understanding of dermal parts theory in Neijing, this paper tries the best to invovle all related discussion about dermal parts in Nei j ing, The mainbody of the paper consists of the following parts:1. The discussion of dermal parts thoery in Neijing, which follows the statement of Suwen Pibulun to summarize the cognition of skin theory in that period.2. Explanation of the nomenclature of dermal parts theory. This paper reviews and revises the name of dermal parts, and then research deeply on the connotation of the six nomenclatures of dermal parts theory from the following three aspects which are text exegesis study, annotation of the later generation and the six meridians philosophical dialectical.3. The connotation of dermal parts. Discussing the connotation of couli, fenrou, col laterals,nutrient qi, defensive qi,pores and their affiliation to the dermal parts. 4. Dermal parts and diagnosis. Summarizing the diagnosis depends on dermal parts in Neijing which includes mainly is the methods and results of dermal diagnosis5. Dermal parts, acupuncture, nutrient qi, defensive qi.Focus on the discussion of the relation of the dermal parts to the distribution of nutrient qi,defensive qi;the mutual relation between acupuncture and nutrient qi, defensive qi. To get the conclusion that the mechanism of the effect of acupuncture on the dermal parts is the adjustment of nutrient qi, defensive qi.6. Dermal parts and acupuncture manipulation in Neijing, From the two, aspects which are shal low needling and blood-letting puncture,to sum up the Needling Methods which involves dermal parts in Neijing.Shal low needl ing includes maoci, yangci,zhizhenci,banci; blood-letting puncture includes jingci, luoci, zanci. In addition," ciwei"," jiejie", contra lateral puncture and distinguishing the meridians blood-letting belong to blood-letting puncture7.Dermal parts and needling instrument. Summarizing the needling instrument used in dermal parts and discussing the mutual effect, including chan needle,di needle,feng needle and hao needle.At last, summarizing the research on this topic, and carrying on the in-depth theoretical discussion. This paper considers the reason of the word "part" in dermal parts to be associated with its rich connotation. As its rich connotation and the relationship to couli and collaterals,dermal parts isnotalone exist in body surface, which reflects the overall concept of Chinese medicine. Needling instrument is almost limited on dermal parts in a period of its development which limits the development of Chinese medicine theory, at the same time, also promotes the development of the dermal parts theory.Limited to the length of the paper and personal ability, the discusion of dermal parts in this paper is only limited to Huangdi Neijing, in the hope of a clear and systematic description of dermal parts theory under the framework of Neijing.
