It can play a role of qingrejiedu, eliminating phlegm and invigorating the estate, and making the firm soft.Professor Sun think that the breast is located on the channel of liver, and breast cancer is relative with depression of liver Qi, phlegm, stagnation of blood and hot toxin. The yashan hills mushroom can do some work to Xiaoyong Sanjie, and fritillaria thunbergiiwere can move phlegm, and gun mountain armour can break the stagnation of blood, and mountain born keel and raw oysters can make the firm soft. Those five medicines form a description to eliminate breast cancer, so that description is named Ru’ai Xiao.Treatment depends on syndrome differentiation:Professor Sun treats breast cancer depending on syndrome differentiation. There are four models in breast cancer. The first is liver Qi depression. Treatment is Shuganjieyu and Jianpiyangxue and Ruanjiansanjie. The description is Xiaoyaosan combining with Ru’ai Xiao. If there is hot toxin in it, the description can change to Danzhi Xiaoyaosan combining with Ru’ai Xiao. The second model is phlegm with blood stagnation. Treatment is Qingre Jiedu and removing blood stagnation and moving phlegm and making firm soft. The description is Sijunzi decoction and Wuwei Xiaodu Yin and Ru’ai Xiao. The third model is Qixue Liangkui. The treatment is Jianpi Ningxin and YiQi Yangxue. The description is Guipi decoction and Ru’ai Xiao. The fourth is Ganshen Yinkui. The treatment is Zibu Ganshen, and making firm soft. The description is Liuwei Dihuang piles and Ru’ai Xiao. Then those description can change with the change of disease. If there is pain with breast, it can add turmeric, cyperus rotundus and fumaric. If there is bad sleep, it can add Hehuan Pi and Suan Zaoren. If there is constipation, it can add largehead atractylodes rhizome and c. deserticola. If there is a heavy sweat, it can add wheat and big jujube. While there is a heavy nauseas and vomit and bad appetite during the period of chemotherapy, it can add dried tangerine or orange peel, qing sprouting and loquat leaves. While the white blood cell decrease during the period of chemotherapy, it can add born astragalus, angelica and donkey-hide gelatine. As the platelet decrease, it can add Shihu and Shiwei. When patients get cough due to radiotherapy, it can add lily, dwarf lilyturf and balloonflower. If there is metastasis in lung, it can add Jiangcan and Shufu and Jiuxiangchong. It can also add Baihuasheshecao, Banzhilian, Quanshen to clear the hot toxin, and Daizheshi, Jineijin and row Maiya to protect stomach Qi.Background and Objective:Professor Sun Guizhi has worked in the area of treating and researching malignant tumor by the method of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for40years, and has developed a prescription of breast cancer, which is named Ru’aixiao decoction. This decoction is used in clinic to deal with breast cancer and gets good results. It reflects Professor Sun’s precious thoughts in the treatment of breast cancer, which is integrated disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation. This article is aimed to sum up the clinical effects of Ru’aixiao decoction on60cases of breast cancer.Methods:We collect60cases of patients of breast cancer in Professor Sun Guizhi’s VIP Clinic from2008september to2011september. Those patients would able to persist in taking Ru’aixiao decoction for3months while their diagnosis has been clear. Three months after, we evaluate the effect of this decoction by the control method and analyze the short-term therapeutic effect and the survival quality and survival situation of those patients.Results:The symptoms of those patients have obviously improved by this decoction, and the life quality of those patients has significantly improved too. Their survival time has been prolonged. According to TCM Syndrome Evaluation Standards,10cases are clinical cured and27cases are significantly effective,19cases are generally effective. The total effective rate is93.33%. According to the evaluation standard of solid tumor of WHO,1patient is CR,6patients are PR, and the efficiency is23.33%, control rate of this disease is76.66%. According to the well-known FACT_B scale, the life quality consists of7aspects such as the patient’s physiological condition and status in society and family, and their emotional status, functional status, additional attention of breast cancer, scores of life quality, Karnofsky score, and the pain of body, and they are significantly different from those before treatment. No patient is dead.Conclusion:Professor Sun Guizhi’s decoction can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and depress the growth of breast cancer, and improve patients’ living quality and prolong their survival time. Those results reflect the correct of Professor Sun’s thoughts about combination of disease and syndrome differentiation.
