Objective:The appropriate indications for surgery and69cases.(including surgery group34cases,non-surgical group of35patients)with similar symptoms of lumbar disc herniation patients discharged to a return visit to observe the quality of their respective life after treatment for five years to improve the situation.Methods:Hospitalization data for patients with lumbar disc herniation in the hospital department between January2006to April2007were analyzed according to the cases of lumbar disc herniation clinical diagnostic criteria and study inclusion criteria,select69patients with symptomatic similar patients,and divided according to whether they received surgical treatment for the surgical treatment group and non-surgical treatment group,using the way of telephone interviews by the author faithfully records and fill out the short form-36health survey(see table),by two group of patients after treatment,rehabilitation, statistical analysis and comparison of eight dimensions(Role Emotional, Social Functioning, Vitality, General Health, Bodily Pain, Role Physical, Physical Functioning, Mental Health),to understand the treatment of the two categories to the class of patients health status.Results:(1)The surgical treatment group and the non-surgical group in Physiological Functions,Role Physical,Bodily Pain, General Health,no significant difference,indicating that both these aspects to improve both the quality of life of patients;(2)Surgery the treatment group and the non-surgical treatment group,statistical significance in Vitality,Social Function,Role Emotional and Mental Health,shows that both psychological factors in these areas,the appropriate indications for surgery and the choice of comprehensive conservative treated patients improved quality of life in five years compared to post-operative patients by mental health factors.Conclusion:(1)For patients with Lumbar disc herniation surgery indications,choose conservative treatments or surgery have effect on the patient’s symptoms improve after five years to improve the situation of the patient’s quality of life has improved.(2)Conservative treatments and surgical treatment in General Health, Physiological Functions, Role Physical and Bodily Pain, four aspects have significantly improved results, two significant differences in Vitality, Social Function, Role Emotional and Mental Health proved Lumbar disc herniation disease in addition to seriously affect the patient’s quality of life for patients with mental health also have an important impact.(3)Surgical indications in patients,five years after surgery the patient’s overall component summary and mental component summary to be superior to conservative treatment in patients with Iumbar disc herniation,choose conservative treatments in patients by psychological factors the impact of select patients after surgical treatment of lumbar disc herniation recurrence may affect their mental health.
