China has a vast territory and large regional differences. In the history of Chinese medicine, there were various regional medicines and their medical schools. Since the nineteen eighties, the research in regional Chinese medicines has developed gradually, including Xin’an medicine, Wuzhong medicine, Qiantang medicine, and South of the Five Ridges medicine, among which, Xin’an medicine research has contributed the richest medical documents. The Xin’an medicine school has attracted researchers more and more attention because of its large number of traditional Chinese physicians and their enormous influence. Both Wang Ji and Sun Yikui were the representative physicians of Xin’an medicine’s Wenbu Peiyuan Group. But their academic ideologies and prescription practices were quite different. In this article. Wang Ji and Sun Yikui are selected as research objects. At first, their existing medicine documents are discussed. Then, their social history is reviewed by means of document study, comparative study and social historical study, and their similarity and difference are compared. At last, the causes of their different clinical experiences and different cognitive perspectives are analyzed. Consequently, the internal and external factors which caused the physicians’different academic ideologies are discussed, including their historical background, regional environmental influence, different experiences of being physicians, and their academic and cultural backgrounds. The part of Documental Summary generalizes the contemporary research in Xin’an medicine, defines the Xin’an medicine, its time scope and space range, and introduces the standards to define Xin’an physicians, etc. Besides, this part summarizes the research history (from the Republic of China to now) and current situation of Xin’an medicine, so as to find out the existing problems in the research of Xin’an medicine, offering a reference to the future research. The thesis is made up of four parts:The first part is an introduction to Wang Ji’s academic ideology. First, the prescriptions for oral use are collected into this article from "the Stone Mountain Medical Records", including their drug ingredients and dosage. By means of document analysis, prescription statistics are prepared, and the frequency and clinical dosage of the drug ingredients commonly used in "the Stone Mountain Medical Records" are figured out. Secondly, the Wang Ji’s prescription characteristics are analyzed, and then the academic ideologies in "The Yingwei Theory" and "The Shenqi Theory" are discussed. In addition, the academic evolution of "The Yang-Surplus-And-Yin-Deficient Theory"——a crucial origin of Wang Ji’s academic ideology is reviewed by tracking down its origin. The second part is an introduction to Sun Yikui’s academic ideology. The drug ingredients of the oral prescriptions used for Wenbu Peiyuan treatment in "Sun’s Medical Records" are collected in this part. By means of the document analysis, prescription statistics are prepared, the frequency and dosage of the drug ingredients commonly used in "Sun’s Medical Records" are figured out. Then, Sun Yikui’s characteristics of making up prescriptions are analyzed. Afterwards, the academic ideologies of "The Qi Dong Outlook On Life" and "The Xiang Huo (or Ministerial Fire) Theory" are discussed. In addition, in this section, the academic evolution of "The Ming Men Theory"——the core of Sun Yikui’s academic ideology is reviewed by tracking down its origin. The third part involves a comparative study of Wang Ji’s and Sun Yikui’s academic ideologies. It is a crucial part of this article. The similarities and differences of the two physicians’academic ideologies are described respectively in this section, and possible causes are also analyzed. Both the physicians lived in the Ming Dynasty, but obviously, their specific years of birth and death were different. They would both like to give their prescriptions according to the principle of Wenbu (or Minor tonic), but the specific minor tonic drug ingredients selected were partially different. They both had family backgrounds of Confucian physicians, but their specific backgrounds, the experience of being physicians, and the influence of traditional Chinese culture were also slightly different. They both cured diseases to save people, but the diseases they treated in their specific times and their surroundings were different... All these factors brought about the different academic ideologies of the doctors, and the different practices to give their prescriptions. It is thus clear that the surrounding factors for traditional Chinese medicine to develop and the process of physicians’medical practices and so on, would have an influence in the formation of physicians’academic ideologies. The fourth part is a conclusion. This part is mainly the author’s analysis and summary of the prescription characteristics in "the Stone Mountain Medical Records" and "Sun’s Medical Records", and the findings of the doctors’academic ideologies by means of comparative study, so as to offer some references for future’s theoretical research and clinical treatment.
